a bunch of nonsense

i liked this movie. i don't know why. i wasn't expecting to, but i was intrigued, so i checked it out from the library and watched it. i think that because i hate cameron diaz (that wide, glassy-eyed quality of her face creeps me out and i find her somewhat unelegant - is that just totally mean?) i thought it would be hard to like the movie - in fact, that's why i never saw it in the theater. but my love for toni collette kind of cancels it out. and the subtle acting burrowed into my soul in a quiet way.

and, a focal point of the movie is at the end in the form of an ee cummings poem, one of my favorites of his. ee cummings was my first favorite poet, and i was singularly devoted to him. i painstakingly copied his poems into my notebooks using calligraphy and my own brand of interpretive text. hours upon hours.
i carry your heart
(i carry it in my heart)

i like listening to fluffy morning radio for the pop culture statistics and facts:
- 40% of women have tried to break up with their partners and been convinced not to
- from the savvy miss website, 25 universal truths about men: "If you sleep over, I might eventually marry you, but I’m less motivated." (whoa.)

i think it's my way of pre-destressing (how do you like that term, eh?) . . . filling my mind with ridiculous but fascinating nonsense to counteract the bureaucratic bullshit and dozens of tiny, menial, yet somehow time-sensitive tasks i'll encounter for the next 8 hours. whatever floats my boat, right?

don't worry, my brain isn't completely going to waste; the overseeing physician of the treatment center i coordinate gives me T.S. Eliot poems to read in my spare time. at least someone is worried about my further intellectual development / survival . . .

happy thursday, all.
