my lover's gone

remember "Roswell"? the show with Katherine Heigl and, more importantly, Jason Behr? that show sent me on a Dido kick that lasted for months. my roommate and i would blast "Here With Me" almost every day. ah, those were the good times.

today i'm craving soda. not good.
i might just splurge because i haven't in awhile.

someone bought Dunkin Donuts iced mochas for the office this week. i'd never had one, but was cajoled and heckled into sipping one (while everyone watched, of course --- yes, i've somehow been assigned the role of office clown). it was surprisingly delicious, especially with the layer of chocolate on the bottom of the cup (to which i kept the straw glued while drinking). it was also surprisingly impotent on my coffee-virgin system. i was expecting a jolt, a perk-up! nothing. i felt the same. interesting.

i let my new Mraz CD/DVD set out of my sight and out of my hands so JW could take it in the car north with him. his eyes widened when i offered it, and he said, "i understand what an act of love this is." i was touched, but i still managed to say, "yes, it's a sacrifice. and if you don't bring it back in good condition, i'll kill you." he laughed, but we both knew i was only half kidding.

i've listened to Let It Die about 13 times through over the past three days. well done, Leslie, white tights and all. of course now i want The Reminder, since i heard her sing live versions of the songs on that album before it was even released. i saw Feist at Schuba's before she was famous, a tiny show on a Tuesday night . . . now look at her, all grown up and selling out megashows everywhere.

...I listened to Dido today.
It made me even sadder.
You're my tornado.
And I'm yours.
