well, hello Monday. can't say it's nice to see you, but i'm glad to be alive nonetheless.
looking back, i'm realizing this weekend was a full one. do i care to share? why, yes. yes, i do.
this weekend i had the privilege of seeing this gentleman (yes, he is as cool as he looks) perform with portions of the Brazilian orchestra. his name is Branford Marsalis, and his saxophone playing is unbelieveable. i've never heard the saxophone played classically, and never quite like he did, at that! the Boy Wonder and i found ourselves breathless at more than one point during the performance - and although the attendance was a bit meager for the venue, the audience was appreciative enough that he did 2 encores! i daydreamed about being the cellist in the black gown with a sparkling bodice - it was a great evening.before the concert, BW and i treated ourselves to nice dinners at Houlihan's. i almost splurged for a blueberry martini, but saw one float by on a tray and it looked . . . chunky. so i stuck with my stuffed chicken breast (he with his filet mignon) and left wanting to unbutton my pants. (too much information? so sorry.)
Saturday i had things to do in the morning, had lunch, and then had what i feel was my first perfect autumn afternoon of the season. it was quite chilly, so i plugged in the string lights in my bedroom, put on a tshirt and crawled under my 2 down comforters. i sipped a hot chocolate (no whip) from Starbucks. i listened to a Shostakovich violin concerto (A minor). and then, i slept. i slept the blissful slumber of a weary soul on a chilly, grey afternoon. just thinking about it puts me in quite the reverie.
then i dragged myself out of bed to see the Reduced Shakespeare Company's show, The Complete History of America, at a local community college. it was an experience (imagine the entire history of America done at lightning speed, by 3 super spastic actors), one i'm glad i had, and one i was ready to be done with by the time the curtain fell. then, to bed i went.
Sunday came early, i sang, and then BW and i went to lunch with my parents. we enjoyed the good Italian food and then the 2 of us retired to my car to discuss the rest of the day. soon the carbohydrates kicked in and we resolved to separate so i could take a nap (apparently all i do is sleep and eat?). we reconvened later in the evening to catch up on one of our guilty pleasures, debrief the week/weekend, and gear ourselves up for the week/weekend to come.
all in all, it was a full, good weekend.
what did your weekend hold?
this week: work today, event tonight, meeting coworkers at SIX TWENTY A.M. tomorrow morning so we can haul our butts to a staff meeting at the hospital, work, meeting tomorrow night, work, event Wednesday night, work, get together with girls Thursday night, work, celebrate two-year anniversary on Friday night, and then whaddaya know, it's November 1st.
November.
all right then.
but the MOST EXCITING THING that happened to me today is this: i won a giveaway at Creature Comforts! on Friday, Ez asked us to post either an act of kindness we were planning to do for someone over the weekend, OR something kind someone had done for us. she randomly chose 2 winners, and i was one of them! since dozens upon dozens of lovely people enter these giveaways, i wasn't expecting to win, but i did! i never win stuff like this, so it comes as a welcome and delightful surprise --- and it certainly brightens my Monday! thank you, Ez :)
Little Notes from Binth
that's everything i can think of to tell that's happened since i last had Internet. i'm not sure why i felt the compulsion to share every minute detail of my life over the past two days, but i hope at least that:
- if you were bored upon beginning to read this entry, you now have a few random things to think about.
- or, even better, perhaps all my linking has opened a few foxholes for you to explore on the world wide web.
- OR, maybe you want to tell me 2 things you ate / drank and 2 things you did / places you went this weekend.
i'd like that.
what's squawking and flapping in your Monday menagerie of thoughts?

2. counts for two drinks
1. golden gardens - basically, the puget sound. stood at water and forgot myself.
2. joel's parents house...the weekly jaunt to my celestial cloud of home cooked food, walks in forested gardens, and naps by fireplaces.
This was the perfect post to read during my nebulizer treatment! I clicked around... found your purse story (how great and sweet!) and then came back and read some more and then read some about branford (oh to be part of the marsalis family. that is one talented gene pool, i enjoy wynton on the trumpet as well (they've both worked with HCJr) and then came back and read some more...
ate/drank: Mango Mojito (yum!) and hash browns fried up in the grease leftover from making bacon (double yum!)
did/went: did not step outside the apt on saturday - it was lovely being lazy and ran a 5K through O.P. Sunday morning (all for the free tshirt and pancakes)
PS: i like the new little "email me" button (maybe it's not new, but i just noticed it)
mme: "stood at water and forgot myself."
i yearn for some moments like this. and, joel's parents' house sounds almost...pastoral. like the perfect sunday afternoon pastoral scene.
lindsay: i don't know what HCJr means.
Harry Connick Jr (sorry, should have written it out)
