i'm not really sure what to say about the film, except that it was surprising. it was a lot harder to watch than i thought it would be. it wasn't so much about the art scene or the glamour of Andy Warhol --- it was about the fragility of a troubled, gorgeous girl (Edie Sedgwick). as the concluding images flicker on the screen, a phrase appears telling of Edie's death at age 28. this really struck me, because after watching the movie and seeing how much she went through, you come to think she must've been at least 30. but the tumult and utter desolate chaos she lived through took place in her mid-20s. it was sobering and sad --- and it put a lot of things in perspective for me.
while the film might have been difficult to get through, it was the first i'd seen of Sienna Miller's work and i have to admit that despite my usual distaste for willowy blondes, i really liked her. she was captivating, beautiful, and it's obvious she gave herself entirely to the role.
i loved her sultry, pretty eye makeup throughout the movie --- it made me want to go out and get fake lashes! then i remembered that my little almond-shaped eyes would fail the fake lash endeavor miserably. either that, or the super strength adhesive needed to get the lashes to stick would damage my eyelids. i think i'll just forget trying to enlarge my itsy bitsy Korean eyes and focus on my strengths instead. (in case you're wondering, my 2 strengths are my lips and my hair. besides that, i don't have much going for me, so thank God for my kisser and my raven locks!)so before this disintegrates entirely, here are 2 frames from Sienna's appearance in Vogue this summer. i love that long sleek hairstyle . . . reminds me of a real pony's tail (and on her, it works)!
after looking at these photos awhile, i'm back to not-so-secretly hating willowy blondes. fashion wise they can get away with anything and everything! if this athletically built Asian spice put on any of those designer clothes, i doubt i'd get my forearm through the sleeve holes! boo.
but i'd take a dip in that amazing pool any day.
after all, in water we're all weightless - right?
what's the last movie you've seen?
she.

The Royal Tenenbaums. I have to admit i adore gwyneth in this movie... :)
Oh that ponytail.
hi twiggy! i have to say that Gwyneth is another willowy blonde i find myself with an affinity for. she really was great in the royal Ts. i also love her Goop newsletter. and the fact that she has offspring named after a fruit.
plume! i'm remembering how you kinda looked like a little pony when i picked you up from the airport that fateful winter night. you were trotting around talking to Toby on your cell phone. it was funny.
uh, aren't you an amazing poet too? this makes at least 3 strengths. (at least) ;)
