j'attend

i won't call unless you do
which means i'll never hear from you
c'est la vie, cherie
c'est la vie
[sr]

so i am here, in this room, waiting. hearing an echo of something that hasn't happened yet, and likely never will.

the tides pull me east, i don't know why.
nothing holds me here;
i might obey
the sea

what do you see in me?
i can't imagine. in the mirror are smoky hollows
where a girl used to be.

it's always the wrong person who calls. you know, the person you never really noticed, making himself suddenly visible. it diverts my attention for awhile, but in the end, the old flame always burns hotter. not brighter, just hotter.

like silk to flame, a delicate destruction

I think the girl in the mirror has just trotted over to a neighboring painting to see what their air tastes like. She'll be back. And while I push West over East, I'll cinch up that saddle for any direction your heart tells you to ride.

...{i might obey}........................surrender.
...{i can't imagine}.....................trust in.
...{always the wrong person}.....again, someone other.
...{in the end}............................it's just the beginning.
...{the old flame}.......................is just that.

surrender, is just that
trust in someone other, again
it's just the beginning

...douse the flames & set sail...swim in warmer waters...
