i'd like to add an item to the "simple things of life" list i started earlier this week. there's just one problem: i can only enjoy this from afar, because i do not own it yet.
i've been haunting the j.crew final sale section lately because i've realized that the right combination of divine factors (i.e. online markdowns, a discount code in my email inbox, free shipping) CAN result in me owning gorgeous, beautifully made clothing. i've been buying lesser quality clothes en masse for so many years, and though i've always loved fashion, my personal style is just starting to really take shape. it's been so . . . special to begin collecting beautiful pieces for an updated, refined, more polished wardrobe that still retains the color and whimsy that are such central components of how i love to dress.
so when i saw this "bright hydrangea" coat on sale today at jcrew.com, stars shimmered before my eyes. it's so ladylike, and the brilliant color is offset by the simple, clean lines.
so if i had a sugar daddy, this is what would be happening:

(this just seems like an appropriate name for such a person)
i ran across this lovely coat today and realized how wonderfully it would fulfill a small corner of my soul. the brisk wind through the trees this afternoon had me shivering and entertaining thoughts of crackling fireplaces, cinnamon cider, and the whisper of leaves in the street.

and because he's my sugar daddy, he would know that though the 14 might be slightly roomy, i'll be wearing the Carlin over cardigans and scarves anyway. so until Alistair comes along, i'll be shivering alongside those poor little leaves . . .

i LOVE the letter. and you. and that coat. i think it should be yours - raven locks and 'bright hydrangea' (SUCH a great colour description) are more than likely made for each other!

ACK. i waited too long. the coat is gone. my winter shall heretofore be drab and slushy.
And Alistair would say:
"Baby girl, why don'chu come on over here and give me some suga? Daddy thinks you smells just like a lil' flower bud so of course his fine piece of woman needs a new coat to keep those humps warm."
