today's early spring sunshine and languid breeze called for one of my newest music discoveries, Oh Land. it's kind of poppy, kind of dreamy, kind of electronica, kind of girly, and kind of off in that "delightful blonde danish bombshell who's probably super quirky" way. she's like a little-girl version of Bjork...likes to dress up, is a little strange, not embarrassed to look outrageous. her words and music don't cut me up into little pieces like Bjork's work does, but why should they? a girl can only have one Bjork in her life and that's just good and right.

i bought these hot pink skinny jeans. i would never wear them with this top or those shoes, but i'm going to wear them eventually. if you hear breaking news about the entire midwest going simultaneously blind, you'll know i finally worked up the courage to leave my house in them. and while i do have some legitimate apprehension about this, i think once i start wearing them i won't be able to stop.

in all seriousness, i also bought a regular (i.e. non-neon) pair of these particular jeans (the rock star super skinny from Old Navy) and waited at least two weeks to actually put them on and go somewhere. to my surprise, they are just form-fitting enough with just enough stretch to be absolutely comfortable and very minimal amounts of obscene. in fact, i'm wearing them right now with a slouchy top and little flats and i feel quite girl friday-like. if i wasn't also wearing an enormous spring-green scarf, chunky turquoise bracelet and fingernails that are 3 different shades of purple, i'd almost feel civilized.

but what would be the fun in that?
