Seulement La Plume

Yes, this post is wholly dedicated to my friend, canadienne, fierce in her creativity and her love: The Noisy Plume.

I’ve known the Plume longer than I have deep; we know each other so much more than our face-to-face hours together would suppose. We’re long-distance; we’re long-suffering. How many electronic letters filled with tears and dreams have we shared? The number reaches to the skies.

Of all the beautiful things Jillian has done, she has burst into glorious bloom this past year singing her silversong. It’s been a marvelous delight to watch her do what she loves first and foremost, and to be so brilliantly successful as an added bonus.

It has always seemed to me that the plume possessed so many singularly radiant qualities --- she writes letters like no one else. She laughs and shouts as distinctly as can be. She infuses her life with the brightest color, she runs the furthest distances, she embraces the coldest Canadian winters and the longest Indian summers. She lives the most unlikely romance. Bottom line: there is none like her!

Naturally, this has extended to her flourishing business, The Noisy Plume. Scrolling through the "sold" section of her shop is breathtaking --- may I share? (And all of the photographs are taken by the Plume herself, of course!)

Up From the Earth necklace :: look at that turquoise!
Look at those silver balls, smattered about as only the Plume can do!

Indian Pony ring :: Wrangles the spirit of a Paint horse with more of those silver balls...

Dryad necklace :: This girl can do everything, even the most delicate leaves.

Casanova-ette necklace :: Plume's trademark silver balls and eye-catching stonework.

A custom order ring :: Doesn't take long to recognize the composition and handiwork
that makes her work completely one of a kind . . .

Violet Flame necklace :: More of the same! What more can be said?

Gentled But Not Broken ring :: A favorite for many.

Selah pendant :: All the gloriously original marks of The Noisy Plume.

Millicent & The Wind earrings :: Whimsical, elegant, the list goes on . . .

This is my own piece of Jillian’s soul, the Too Good To Be True ring in amethyst:

(And yes! This is my bathroom, those are my parfum bottles, and the 2 avertissements are for Dior and Lacoste.)

That’s just the thing: each piece she creates is a piece of herself, weighted gracefully on the hands, ears, wrists, and necks of the people lucky enough to have discovered her unique, inimitable talent. Her work is as unique as she is, and doesn’t that make "heaps" (as Jillian and Robert would say) of sense? Yes, I thought so too.

I write these things not to falsely flatter and thus dishonor the Plume, but because once in awhile everyone needs to hear and know how lovely and one-of-a-kind one is. As a young artist and businesswoman, Jillian’s whole heart has gone into silver and stone, and there are many things that will arise to discourage. Similarly, as a young person my whole heart has gone into the makings of my own life, and there have been many things that I’ve had to face that have made me doubt myself. I write this for my friend so that in those moments, she will have something to look back upon, something that will strike her to the core with the truth about herself and her work.

Yes --- bien sur! --- Only the Plume.

Love,
She.

Post Script: After all that, I forgot to link The Noisy Plume's shop! Silly me :)

...you know that you have been my anchor this week.
And this post, well, it's pulling me up by my bootstraps, smoothing the rumples out of my soul and calling forth that silversong once again.

You know what I feel.
You know what I feel for you.

With all my heart,
Quillian
