as temperatures hover in the fifties today, i drive and think about melting. rivulets of dazzling runoff stream through the streets, and i can almost believe i'm in a holy city whose gutters rush with peace and revelation. the six inches of snow that's been allowed to linger with the help of subzero weather diminishes; i remember what the earth looks like again. it feels, as many other things in life right now, like rebirth.
so the mountains melt and soften. we are reminded what is, and what has always been, underneath. the slow, gradual process of melting actually nourishes the ground beneath.
so let the frozen surface melt away. let the world, renewed, appear, just as we remembered it --- except more beautiful, healthier, more alive. let rivers of love, peace, and truth run brilliantly through the streets unhindered.
give us strength to change in the warming season;
to see and understand what is underneath.
and then, at last, to grow.

I am always really glad to live somewhere that has seasons... change can be so refreshing especially outdoors..
i could not agree more. midwesterners complain about the heat and then the cold, but secretly i think we're all just glad to have something besides ourselves that orients us to when and where we are.
now change on the inside...well, that's another story.
