well she's gone and done it...again!
as if UmberDove's textile genius wasn't enough, she's gone and opened a second Etsy shop filled with another form of art she just happens to be soulfully excellent at: painting. the shop has yet to fill out completely (i've heard rumors of postcards), so keep checking back --- you don't want to miss out!
yes, Kelly took all of these photos, and yes, i believe they are on her gorgeous property, and YES, i'd love to read and write beneath that clothesline of brilliant little prints for the rest of my life.
so in an effort to be a part of this new and exciting phase of Umberdove (truthfully i couldn't keep away if i tried), i dashed over this morning and caught a finch named Frank for myself. read his story here. his inquisitive little stance and those bright arcs of light, love, and hope cascading over his head are irresistible, aren't they? this piece of art means so much to me already.so please visit the UmberDoveStudios shop immediately!
{ post script: after going to Renegade Handmade in Chicago this weekend, i left a handful of dollars poorer, but leagues richer in my fervor to support handmade artists. seeing people sincerely share the work of their hands and realizing that some of them drove up to 8 hours to be there renewed my desire to thoughtfully choose gifts this season, especially in this economy. thank you to all of you who give your lives to do what you love. it's an inspiration to us all.}

I feel all blushy.
That gorgeous barn wood is the backside of my studio building, stained, weathered, beautiful. Just the other day, as I was out taking those photos I felt something under the soil beneath my feet and dug it up. It was a tiny glass amber bottle, the type to use a stopper or cork, filled with who knows how many years of dirt.
There is indeed something magical about this place.
Joyous! Inspirational! These are ways to describe this post, this Umber Dove, and certainly you too, dear She.
I tried to comment on this post with my phone, but my phone sucked.
Now I'm in Denver and my toe hurts.
BUT. I wanted to say that this is such a lovely and fitting tribute post to the Dove. I loved reading it and share all your thoughts on all the details of the Manor and the work coming out of the Mistress of the Manor.
WE LOVE YOU REDWOOD!!! And we're pretty doggone proud of you!
XOXOXOXO
