consider me tempted.

something on the lighter side today, yes?
life is heavy. the corners are filled with shadow.
nothing breathes some air into my mind like beautiful clothing.
call me superficial, but i embrace what helps,
especially the silk, the wool, the cashmere . . .

Monday night i flipped appreciatively through the latest J.Crew catalog, exclaiming softly over the ultra-feminine (but somehow not too frilly) pieces on its pages. this morning an unnamed culprit (named Lindsay) directed me to the J.Crew website for unrelated reasons and i fell down the gorgeous rabbit hole that is the Sale section.

here are my treasures.
gasp and enjoy to your heart's content
and let the ruffles & colors invigorate your soul.

ruffle tissue tank || ornately simple, imagine the fluttering!

loulie ruffle tank in wild blackberry || richly mysterious & sophisticated . . .

perfect fit ruffle tank in coral || fresh take on a wardrobe staple (of mine)

and finally, the piece de resistance . . .

the best part about these pieces? they are all on sale. i have never in my life owned anything from J.Crew --- though beautiful and finely crafted, the price point has always just been too high for me. as i grow older, i'm learning the value of having a few things in my wardrobe that are beautiful, amazingly made, and more expensive. for me, this has been a difficult transition to make. but i'm learning.

and maybe this education needs to be taken to the next level with that coat.
just sayin'.

I fully agree and support the purchase of frilly, decadent items to bring light into the dark places (particularly if they're on sale!).

Myself, yesterday I made my first-ever purchase from Anthropologie (though I've spent hours wandering through all the embroidered heaven of their catalogues and their stores. I indulged in some $24.00 bubble bath that I plan on putting to use tonight (now that we finally live someplace with a sizeable bathtub and one that isn't coated in soap scum). I fully support retail therapy-- up to a point, mais oui.

I'm thrilled you found something beautiful to indulge yourself in, lovely.
