look at me, blogging again at work! i'm getting brave as my stint here continues and i realize i HAVE to do something to survive the blaring fluorescent bulbs (especially at 7:15am . . . no one's pretty at that hour, much less under green-toned x-ray lighting).
do you ever see something trending in the style world and pull a double-take because whatever the current "it" thing is, is something you've already been doing? let's just say that doesn't happen all that often to me, but sometimes it does, and it happened just now when i saw this photo of a relatively plain leather bag embellished with a beautiful silk scarf. several weeks ago, i found myself wanting to use a bag i'd had for awhile, but it seemed kinda blah to me (for a lot of people, a purple leather bag would be exciting enough, but like i said, i'm a colorburst)(maybe i should rewrite katy perry's song with the words, "baby, i'm a colorburst . . .")(okay, fine, i won't).
ANYWAY. so i pulled a patterned silk scarf through the metal hardware on the front of the bag, and the transformation was a.) inexpensive, b.) instantly fabulous . . . personally, i love both of those things.
a few more quick things:
- i had a fun-size twix bar for breakfast this morning.
- extra 40% off sale prices at banana republic = a joyous little me.
- the tailored safari vest i almost bought at said sale (but ultimately left at the store) is haunting me today. i figured i should be able to remix the piece at least 3 times with what i already have in my closet (style bloggers give good shopping tips), and i couldn't come up with 3 outfits as i stood half-dressed in the fitting room last night. this morning i found myself putting on the PERFECT outfit for just that item and felt silly (as i stood half-dressed in my bedroom). realizing it could go with this outfit made me realize it could go with other items i own, and now i'm thinking about going back over there today to see if it's still hanging on the rack. the vest is just such a specific look that i've seen everywhere but never really dreamed of pulling off . . . words of shopping wisdom are welcome . . .
- i'm already feeling like quite the little fashion lemming today as i prance around in my gingham button-down, knee-length navy skirt, cognac-colored boots, and military-style jacket with flower pin . . . throw in a big-ass watch and a few rings, and i look just like everyone else cavorting on the internet these days. let's not forget my bold magenta lips and essie nail polish. sheesh.

I'm glad your back :)
My outfit, though not real exciting is so very comfortable and I like it. Jeans, flip flops, a baby blue lacey tank top and a black cardigan... and as casual as it seems I am actually quite fancy compared to all the men I work with who are generally covered in mud :)
Dear Baby,
Remember when we found those striped sailor pants at Banana for dirt cheap? I still love them. I wore them on Easter Sunday. All day. And then in my studio the day after.
Also, remember who leads you to handbag mecca. ME. That's who.
Also, come here.
AND I love your fashion innovation. Always have. Remember those red shoes you were wearing the first day we met when my girl gitch was poking out the top of my jeans and I shook the squirrel out of the tree??? That's when I knew I loved you
I still do.
x
PS I'm in the bath watching BSG. Wish you were here.....kind of.....we could wear bikinis.
Today I wore a tiny plaid patterned brown dress with a pink cardi, brown boots and a hat appropriate for the Royal Wedding party I attended.
Tiny sandwiches and a variety of mini tarts with cups of tea? Yes please. You wouldn't believe the fun we had ridiculing some of the hats worn at the wedding - your signature sass would have been most appreciated...
