lip stuff is one of my...things.
growing up asian, i never had much use for or know-how about eye makeup or foundation. so my lips became my specialty. i'd layer maybelline's "plum shine" gloss and lipsmackers strawberry roll-on gloss and POW. i never realized how trademark my lips had become until:
- my college choral director told all the girls to emulate my lips for concerts, so the audience could make out our diction better;
- one day i didn't put on "the lips" (as i've come to call them) and while walking across campus, everyone i said hello to had to double-take (and some ignored me outright). when prevailed upon, they confessed they hadn't recognized me without the lips.
the lips reigned supreme until this past year. i was seeing neutrals and nudes on everyone's faces, which i liked the look of, but i wasn't sure how it translated to someone with my coloring. i tried a few and decided that nudes with hints of peach looked best. the little magic stick in the photo above is my favorite. not only do i love the black quilted tube and the "revlon" carved into the lipstick itself (both make me feel like i'm using chanel, probably intentional on revlon's part), but the price is pretty agreeable too!
so this lipstick + maybelline's shinylicious = The Lips II ---
not as bold as i was in college, but much more subtle and sophisticated
while still being trademarkable :)
bisous,
she

Hey! I would like to join you on your quest for 30 thankful days, and 30 non-spending days. My bank account could use some restraint, my mind the focus on thanks.
Also, I have only recently gotten into "lips" and have a question that I can't quite figure out... maybe you would know. Is it necessary to use lip liner every time you wear lipstick? I've found that many lipsticks kind of run all over. so tricky!
