{ hold on; stay strong }
here i am, "on time" --- meaning, i'm posting day six on day six! it's been interesting to "make time" to take these photos, and even more interesting to try and catalog things for which my gratitude organically arises during the course of my days (as opposed to choosing 2 color-coordinated pretty things, arranging them on the upper left corner of my bed closest to the window for light, and taking the picture). i don't want this to be a lesson in styling my possessions; i want it to be an exercise in recognizing more readily that i see, use, and touch more beauty than i know in even the simplest routines of my day...
choosing jewelry. pondering which fragrance i "feel" like that day. reading a few meager pages before falling asleep. getting dressed.
the thing i've noticed in doing this project so far is how many reasons my email inbox (and the internet in general) gives me to want, shop, and buy --- and how EASY the way the world is now makes it for me to do these things. within seconds i can see something i want (that i had no idea existed three seconds before), click on its link, and with a few more clicks i've updated my quantity, color, size, zip code, and payment information. two days later, it's on my doorstep.
there's nothing wrong with any of this...i'm just realizing how counter-cultural it is to resist the ease of acquisition. within two days i was deleting most of those emails without even opening them; seeing the possible possessions is just too tempting.

heidi is going to join me in this project, too --- i'm excited to see the beauty in her life that she finds. i'm going to put this project and its participants in the sidebar so they're always at my disposal. even though it's already day six, don't hesitate to jump in solely for that reason, even if you know you'll only be able to post intermittently. if you want, get your links to me and i'll add you to the list at the right. because some awareness is better than none...right?
together,
she

Firstly, I love these. Secondly, they make me want to paint my nails. Thirdly, YOU were with me when I bought my very first tube of real lipstick last summer (of yeah, glosses and balms for me always) and the other day I dolled myself up, went out for coffee, and realized that I felt so PRETTY. And I thought about you then.
xox!
Agreed. You are the queen of pretty. It's inspiring.
it's true! the internet makes it so easy to buy what i want! i can search for something in one store, and the next time i surf the internet i see an ad for it. how did they know?
