so open up for today's spoonful of of Light & Prettiness. it's as much (or more) for me as it is for you.
we've all swooned over the beautiful Japanese paper tape that's taken the craft/style/design blog circuit by storm (i see you back there in the corner, clutching a roll of the stuff in your hands like a mini steering wheel). now imagine an entire post dedicated to similar Japanese inspiration. has your heart rate gone up yet? well, pop some blood pressure meds and visit this post from A Creative Mint (and don't say i didn't warn you).
now that you've caught your breath (tell the truth, did you have to go breathe into a brown paper bag?), let's visit this renovated beach house set in the dunes of Amagansett, NY. i love that the painting above the fireplace is like an abstract waterfall cascading down into the room. and as impractical as they may be, I LOVE WHITE COUCHES. and the windows, and the symmetry . . . now i need a brown paper bag, and 6 days off so i can fly to Amagansett and read for 5 days straight on one of these couches (i'd take the one on the right).
et finalement, la piece de resistance . . . just looking at this bedroom (styled by Paul Joseph Hopper) makes me want to be in bed, but never sleeping, lest i miss one moment of the beauty & color therein. look at the pintucked duvet . . . the simple purple flowers in a white vase . . . the silver lamp whose slim minimalistic style contrasts the opulent femininity of the rest of the room . . . AND THE DRESS FORM. this isn't an entirely new idea (dress forms as decor), but it's still postworthy, in my opinion.at this point i'm full-on hyperventilating into a second brown paper bag and loving every second. and i think that concludes this installment of Light & Prettiness. i've gone from feeling like every minute is a mile of cold spaghetti i have to walk through to happily hyperventilating my way through each blessed second.
see? i'm not too hard to please. all i need is Japan, a white couch, and a mannequin.
wait . . . i think that makes me creepy.
whatever.

.....that pintucked duvet..............oh dear Lord.
okay, it's official, with that post. you should blog for a living, then publish a book, then go on a book tour/vocal extravaganza around the world.
i'll hold down the barn while you're gone.
oh jeebus...the KITCHEN in that beach house made my eyes pop out of my noggin. not very easily functional, i admit, but still gorgeous. and who needs a functional kitchen in a beach house anyway? you're really just going to barbeque every day anyhow. right?
right.
...oh...my...i can see it now...me...YOU...& plume... pintucked together...& perhaps a pillow fight...or two?
